Aaron Arav Ağlamaz |
|
Aaron Arav is Aaron's grandfather.
His title was "Hadji" (this
is a title in Turkish. It would be given to persons who visited the Holy Places, and in the case of Jews, Jerusalem).
Aaron Arav
was born in 1880, to Itzhak and Sara
Arav.
He had one brother,
Eliya Arav and one sister, Rebeka Arav. He married Ester Albukrek in about 1900.
They had six children:
Itzhak (Isaac), Avraham, Sara, Yeuda (my father), Lea and
Luna (Fani). Several years after he married, he travelled to United States to explore the possibility of emigrating to America with the family. He worked there in a factory of batteries. However, after several months there, either the job or the living conditions didn't meet his expectations, he abandoned the idea of immigration and returned back to Ankara.
In 1934, the family changed the family name to Ağlamaz (a Turkish
word), because of the "Family Names' Rule".
His wife from second marriage, Bulisa Ağlamaz died in 1971, in Istanbul, Turkey. |
